The vSphere Client is a Windows program that you can use to configure the host and to operate its virtual machines. You can download vSphere Client from any host.

Download the VMWare Horizon Client installer For Mac OS 10.12 – 10.15 by clicking here. Mac OS versions older than 10.12 are not supported. Double click on the VMware Horizon Client.dmg file to begin the install. Using VMware Horizon Client for Mac Using VMware Horizon Client for Mac provides information about installing and using VMware Horizon® Client™ software on a Mac to connect to a remote desktop or application in the datacenter. This information is intended for administrators who need to set up a View deployment that includes Mac client devices.

Verify that you have the URL of the host, which is the IP address or host name.

The system must have an Internet connection.

Procedure

1. From a Windows machine, open a Web browser.
2. Enter the URL or IP address for the vCenter Server or host.
   For example, http://exampleserver.example.com or http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
3. Click Download vSphere Client under Getting Started.
4. Click Save to download the vSphere Client installer.

Please follow the below instructions to install the VMWare Horizon Client for Mac.

1. 1. Download the VMWare Horizon Client installer For macOS 10.14 (Mojave), 10.15 (Catalina) and 11 (Big Sur) by clicking here. For macOS 10.13, you’ll need to download a different version from here.
      Mac OS versions older than 10.13 are not supported.
   2. Double click on the VMware Horizon Client.dmg file to begin the install.
      
   3. Click “Agree” in the user license agreement window that appears.
      
   4. When the VMWare Horizon Client window appears, drag the “VMWare Horizon Client icon to the Applications folder.
      
   5. The first time you launch the VMWare Horizon Client, you may see a security popup asking if you want to open the file. Click the “Open” button.
      
   6. Follow these linked instructions to log in to VDI with 2-Step Verification (2SV).

VDI requires a modern laptop, PC, or tablet.
In general most laptops that are less than 4 years old will run the VDI client without an issue. More detailed laptop requirements can be found in our student guide.
