We have just released an update to Parallels® Toolbox for Mac®, with four additional tools and several new features requested by users.
The Parallels team suggests you keep an Intel Mac if you need older OSes. Using Parallels Access, you can have older OSes running on your Intel Mac and access them remotely from your new M1 Mac. The four new tools are shown in Figure 1.

- Use deployment package to configure and deploy Parallels Desktop and virtual machines to Macs using ARD, Jamf, Parallels Mac Management, Munki, and other Mac Management tools. Send invitation emails to users, with a build, a license key, and other instructions. Prepare, upload, and enable Business users to download the VM on their Macs in one.

Parallels Tools Download Mac Operating System
The Download Video tool can be automatically updated. This is especially important since some of the most popular video posting sites (YouTube, Facebook, etc.) change the manner in which videos are referenced. These changes can make the Download Video tool no longer work. This update means that we can fix these issues quickly.
Parallels Tools Download Hack
The Screenshot tools can now save images in different formats. You set the format you want in the tool preferences, as shown in Figure 3.

Several different do-not-sleep durations are now available in the Do Not Sleep tool.
You can install the new Parallels Toolbox update by using the “Check for Updates …” menu item. (See Figure 4.)

Every Parallels Toolbox user will receive the new features in this update. Only users with a subscription—either for Parallels Desktop® 12 for Mac or Parallels Toolbox—will receive the new tools.

Installing Parallels Tools in a Mac OS X Guest OS
To install Parallels Tools in a Mac OS X guest OS:
Parallels Desktop 10 For Mac
You can create virtual machines with Mac OS X guest operating systems on Intel-based Macs only.
- Start the virtual machine, and log in to the guest OS.
- When the guest OS boots up, choose the Install Parallels Tools option from the Virtual Machine menu to connect and mount the Parallels Tools ISO image file.
If the Install Parallels Tools option is grayed out, make sure that your guest operating system is supported by Parallels Tools. To view the list of supported guest OSs, see Supported Operating Systems.
- Open the mounted image, of the disk and double-click the Guest OS Tools For Mac OS X icon to start the installation.
- In the Welcome window, click Continue.
- In the Select a Destination window, specify the location for Parallels Tools. Click Continue.
- In the Standard Install on 'Macintosh HD' window, specify a location for Parallels Tools, and click Install. Type the password when prompted.
You can view the installation progress in the Installation window.
- Once the installation is complete, click Restart to exit the assistant and restart the virtual machine.
Reinstalling Parallels Tools
To reinstall Parallels Tools, remove them first, and then install them again using the procedure above.
How to check if Parallels Tools have been installed
To check whether Parallels Tools have been successfully installed, ttart your virtual machine and look at the status bar of its window. If the tip 'Press Ctrl + Alt to release the mouse and keyboard' appears in the status bar of the virtual machine's window, this means that Parallels Tools were not installed. If Parallels Tools are installed, you do not need to press any key to release the mouse and keyboard because they are released automatically.
